Andy Smith specialises in land and property development, including demand analysis, viability appraisal, funding and delivery, business case preparation and economic impact analysis. His experience spans a wide range of property projects including estate regeneration, town centre master-planning, housing and employment growth areas, and mixed-use and commercial property development. He is delivery focussed and has extensive experience of preparing practical intervention and implementation plans including preparing successful funding bids to facilitate land assembly, infrastructure and development delivery.
Recently Andy has become increasingly involved in the challenges of delivering sustainable development solutions, including social and economic inclusivity, as well as helping to develop policy and funding solutions to address the environmental challenges presented by climate change, the need for enhanced biodiversity and nutrient neutrality issues.
Andy is a highly numerate property professional with over 20 years’ experience. His early career with major residential developers has given him a broad knowledge of all aspects of the development process and a strong understanding of the challenges facing developers in bringing sites forward successfully. As a consultant he has led multi-disciplinary teams incorporating planning, urban design, engineering, cost consultancy, economic and other technical specialists. Andy was made a Partner of BBP Regeneration in 2012 and became a Director of SQW when BBP became part of SQW in February 2019.
