What works to tackle inequalities by regulators, oversight, and supervisory bodies: a rapid review for the Care Quality Commission
In Spring 2023, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) commissioned SQW (and our partner, the King’s Fund Library Service) to deliver a rapid literature review focusing on ‘what works to tackle inequalities by regulators, oversight, and supervisory bodies, from other sectors and countries’. This will also involve interviews to explore effective approaches and conditions which have worked to protect and promote equality. The study runs from June 2023 to December 2023, with dissemination activity to follow.
The study was commissioned to support the delivery of CQC’s strategy, published in 2021. It aims to provide new insights on the challenges and successes experienced by other regulators in tackling inequalities, providing contextualised good practice examples and learnings to inform how CQC can contribute to its core ambition, which is to tackle inequalities and ensure compliance with equality and human rights legislation.
CQC has issued a call for evidence, to identify documents which could be considered as part of the review.
The call for evidence is asking for support with the study. This is your chance to identify and provide access to any reports, documents or other evidence that can be considered as part of the review. You may have knowledge of, or access to, evidence sources that could be relevant, but are not publicly available or we may not identify through our current search processes.
The table below sets out the purpose and aims of this call for evidence, and the overall piece of research that it is supporting. The table details the core research questions that the study will seek to answer, and the types of evidence we are seeking to collect.
Any evidence you provide will be considered as part of our evidence sifting process.
Responses to this call can be sent to Jane Meagher at SQW (jmeagher@sqw.co.uk), or you can share your responses directly with Liadan Buggy at CQC (liadan.buggy@cqc.org.uk), who will share them with the research team at SQW.
Please respond by 11th September. Thank you – your help with this is much appreciated.
